Ms. Kish
Welcome to Ms. Kish’s Science Class! I hope that you are ready for exciting new discoveries in science. To make sure that you are aware of everything that is expected of you, I have summarized my expectations of you on this site. THANK YOU! 


I. MATERIALS NEEDED FOR CLASS: 
 

•    1 three-ring binder with dividers
•    Lined paper with straight, neat edges
•    1 spiral notebook
•    2 black pens
•    2 blue pens
•    2 pencils

      
II. CLASS  RULES:

1.Follow all school and classroom rules, policies, and procedures.

2.Follow the teacher’s instructions.

3.Bring all required materials everyday (pens, pencils, notebook, etc.).

4. Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself. Do not touch other people or their                  
    belongings.

5. No cursing or teasing – Respect everyone.

6. Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak.

7. Stay in your seat unless you have permission to do otherwise.

8. Do not chew gum, eat food, drink liquids and/or groom (comb hair, put on make-up) in 
    class.

9. The teacher dismisses you- not the bell.

10. Always do your BEST!

III. CONSEQUENCES:

If you choose to break a rule, you will get one or all of the following negative consequences (Note: They are not in a set order):

1. Verbal warning with notation on Student Information Sheet and an after class     conference.

2. Time out with a writing assignment/ behavior contract.

3. Detention for 15 minutes to an hour after school.

4. Call parents or arrange a parent conference.

5. Send student to Dean’s Office.

6. Class suspension with a parent conference.


 IV. CLASSWORK AND HOMEWORK POLICY              :

All work must be turned in on time unless you have a PRC or note from your parent explaining a problem that prevented you from finishing your assignment. In other words, LATE WORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!

V. ASSIGNMENT STANDARDS:

•    Assignments must be done neatly, without tears, wrinkles or folds. Use blue or black ink for
     written information. Use pencils for drawings, diagrams, graphs or calculations.

•    In the upper right hand corner put the proper heading on your paper with your full name,
     period, and date. On the first line in the middle of your paper put the title of the assignment
     and underline it.


VI. GRADES:

Each assignment is worth points. Your grade is based on the percent of point you get for each assignment. To calculate your grade, add up your points and divide by the total number of possible points. This percentage will equal a letter grade based on the information below:

100% TO 90% = A
89% TO 80% = B
79% TO 70% = C
69% TO 55% = D
54% OR LOWER = FAIL 


VII. COOPERATION GRADE:

E - Student maintains a positive attitude, cooperates with the teacher
        and other students. Student has less than 2 behavioral write-ups.

S – Student maintains a positive attitude in class most of the time. Student
          has 3 to 5 behavioral write-ups

U – Student has difficulty maintaining a positive attitude in class and does not
           cooperate with the teacher or other students. Student has 6 or more behavioral
            write-ups.


VIII. WORK HABIT GRADE:


E – Student turns in homework promptly and has 2 or fewer tardies.

S – Student usually turns in homework promptly and/or has 3 to 4 tardies.

U – Student does not turn in homework regularly and/or has 5 or more tardies.
